HIP HOP ARTISTS ON THE JAZZ FESTIVAL
The international Jazz festival was held for two days at the Cape Town international Convention Centre on March 30 and 31 2012.This festival was meant for international Jazz artists to perform in South Africa in order to express their talents on how to play Jazz .This year's Jazz festival was totally different with the previous festivals because HIP HOP artists was included on the Jazz festival. This year’s Jazz Festival was mixed with HIP HOP because there were various HIP HOP artists who performed during the festival. There were various HIP HOP artists who performed such as:
· HHP (HIP HOP PANTSULA),
· Jean Grae
· Skillz
· Atmosphere and
· Pharoahe Monch
king of hip hop: HHP(HIP HOP PANTSULA)

The festival went well because and it was just a joyous occasion that will never be forgotten by South African citizens and those international people who have been there during the festival. This festival it was just a joyous occasion for everyone who had been there but a question came into my mind where i was asking my self why HIP HOP artists to perform on the Jazz festival?.I think the organiser of this Festival caused a confusion by mixing HIP HOP artists with Jazz artists on the Jazz festival because this festival was meant for Jazz artists.
I agree with you they are confusing us by playing hip hop on the jazz festival.hip hop must be played on the hip hop festivals not on the jazz festivals.
ReplyDeletei really dont think they caused confusion, as PRP we are thought that we should work together for a successful plan(integration) and i have realised most artist are starting to collaborate which is what they dd
ReplyDeletewell i also think a lot of people were a bit confused with this years jazz festival as to how does hip hop fit in a jazz festival. if you noticed with this years SAMA awards they also had different artists from different genres compiting for one award, so i think maybe organisers of events have done an environmrntal scanning and came out with such recommendations to better their events....just a maybe
ReplyDeleteI would like to clear it out for you this is not cunfusion but a way of trying to intergrate various genres of music and also trying to get the young people to attend the festival because they can also learn a thing or two and another thing is that Hip-Hop is like poetry.
ReplyDeletecome on Vince this festival is for international jazz festival,so why they invited hip hop artists to perform during the festival because this is for jazz artists?
Deletei think this good mix of gener because the young and old can now attend the youth and not get bored with jazz only
ReplyDeletedifferent people love different music other love jazz, house, hipop and other. any event is plan according to the Demographys
ReplyDeleteJazz for jazz musician not hip hop and they should give each a chance to perform their things...you can expect to people to attend a jazz festival and find that they are playing hip hop.
ReplyDeleteFor me its a good thing for it will help come up with something different, so maybe there is a good reason behind it all.
ReplyDeletegreat line up i must say, this event will unite those who love hip hop and jazz, and they'll all have fun.
ReplyDeleteBy uniting these two kinds of music i think they will successful attract more fans for jazz from hiphop since jazz was regarded as music for extraordinary people just like myself.
ReplyDeleteJazz music for jazz festival and hip hop for hip hop festivals in teams of a jazz festival that collaboration is was highly unacceptable imagine that you are going to a hip hop festival and they start playing jazz how would you feel? I would never go to that festival again.
ReplyDeleteI assume the main reason why they include non-jazz artist is beacuse they are trying to attract other non- jazz fans to understand and fall in live with jazz
ReplyDeleteI think they trying to create a relationship between all this kind of music by mixing it. Ai but i dont like the sound of it, is confusion
