MZANSI HIP HOP STILL STRUGGLING TO GET ENOUGH SALE

Insufficient sales and Lack of support from local and international people

(Image:http://myafrica.allafrica.com/)

Msansi hip hop is one of the South African music which is still struggling to get enough sales.Insufficient sales towards Mzansi hip hop is due to lack of support from their local people as well as international people. The reason why hip hop artists not getting enough sales is that majority of people in South Africa prefer international Hip Hop than Mzansi hip hop.You may find that many people in South Africa are buying original Cd's from international hip hop artists, but they fail to buy original Cd's from their local artists.Another issue is that there are only few people around the world who are familiar with Mzansi hip hop, that is the main reason why Mzansi hip hop is unfamiliar on other people around the world. This shows that Mzansi hip hop artists are not able to grow enough sales due to lack of support from their local people as well as international people.

For me i think it will be effective if people in South Africa can give more support to their local artists than international artists.Again it will be more effective if South African artists can rap only in English because many people all over the world will be able to get the meaning of their messages.Rapping in different South African languages will not take Mzansi hip hop abroad because other people around the world will not be able to translate their meaning of their messages. If your massages are not understandable because of the language that you are using people around the world will never get attracted by your music and this will lead to insufficient sales and support from the people.Lack of sales also putting South African Hip Hop artists in a bad perception. This issue  needs Public Relations efforts to put them in a good perception by encouraging South Africans to support their local artists in order to grow their sales. What are other ways that can help Mzansi hip hop artists to get enough sales?read more

  1. The problem is not just that people prefer international music that local, Mzansi's artist are also limited by our local radio station because they play more international music that supporting local music. Due to sales if piracy can be ended maybe thw sales of music can improve.

    1. Themba piracy is all over the world.I think South African artists should market themselves internationally in order to earn recognition internationally and nationally.

  2. I hear what you're saying but to rap with english together with your mother toung is not a reason because there are other overseas artists who mix english with their language but they get good sales like Pitbull he also sing with a brazilian language. and another problem is that local radio stations do not support our local music.

    1. You know mthoko the problem is that South Africa is a multiracial country, there are many different languages in South Africa,so Brazilian is recognised in other countries not only in Brazil unlike rapping in zulu,Xhosa and sotho because these languages are not recognised in other countries are only recognised by South Africans.

  4. If south African are not supporting hip hop mzansi that means the is a problem with their music, because fans cannot just resist to follow a good music. This artists have to find why South Africans are not supporting their music. They also need to be committed and do better to attract mzansi people.

  5. i think the problem is that when looking at the material S.A. hip hop artits use it is similar to that of international artists,I feel that they are trying too hard to imitate international hip hop artists and as a result they lower their standards because they are doing a bad job at trying to imitae international artists hence people prefer to listen to and support international hip hop.I also think that S.A. hip hop is still new to most souuth africans and it will take time for them to grasp it and listen to it as much as they do to foreign hip hop, but S.A. hip hop is growing and given enough time it will grab local support and sales will be booming

  13. i think the problem here is the music and not the people not supporting them.the artist should atleast try to improve the quality of their music and stop grabbing the international style of music as most of the local hip hop music are the copy cats of the international music. In short m trying to say they must develop their own style in hip hop music then thats when they can earn more of attentions from local to international.

  14. the underlying problem to this matter is that the hio hop genre has a bad name behind it, so people think that it is all about swearing and promoting violence hence it is not given a chance
